The Good-Tryers

Joey is playing on a softball team this summer. Their team is called the Good-Tryers. Finley and I went to watch a game the other day. She watched the game for a minute or two but she really just wanted to walk around the ball park. I was constantly looking for softballs to come flying down from the sky on our heads. Would it be weird if I made her wear a helmet next time? The Good Tryers won and we headed home for dinner.

Top 10 reasons we are LOVING Huntsville so far!

I thought the easiest way to update everyone on how we like Huntsville so far was a "Top 10". Here goes...

1.) There is a park so close to our house that we can walk to it. We went the other day and to my surprise the park was spotless. No trash on the ground, no gum or graffiti on the equipment, no mud under the swings AND I felt perfectly safe there alone with Finley. It was awesome!
2.) I have yet to drive more than 6 or 7 minutes from my house for any reason. Location, location, location. The places I frequent are literally 1-3 minutes from home.
3.) The people here are just plain nice. Seriously, the people in this town are so friendly and helpful it is astounding. I'm talking go out of their way to help you, give you advice, tell you where to eat, give you directions, etc. It's Southern Hospitality at its finest.
4.) We LOVE our house! It meets all our needs. We love our street too. It's quiet, but there are always people watering their plants or walking their dogs. There are a lot of big, old trees and there is a ball park down the street that is sure to be buzzing with activity during baseball and softball season. It feels really homey here.
5.) Finley LOVES our house! Her favorite thing is to run up and down the long hallway to the bedrooms. Her bedroom is bigger too so she can actually play in there.
6.) Hunstville has really cute shops. It will take me months to visit them all;)
7.) We can walk to the mall although we never would. I still like knowing I could.
8.) A lady said to me the other day that Huntsville had everything Birmingham has, but in Huntsville everything moves at a slower pace. I know exactly what she means. It feels really peaceful here and people aren't in as big a hurry as they are in Bham and Mobile.
9.) I feel really safe in our house and in our neighborhood.
10.) In certain parts of town where you are in the valley and you can see mountains, it is gorgeous! I cannot wait to spend fall and winter here. I'm finally in a city where a heavy snow is a possibility and I want it to happen!!!

It's fun to brush your teeth!

The Yo Gabba Gabba song "It's fun to brush your teeth" is what we sing when we brush Finley's teeth. We've been brushing Finley's teeth for a while now, but I haven't "documented" the event. Last night I called Joey in to snap some pics. She really likes it! She sits still and opens her mouth so I can brush her teeth (4 up top and 3 down below)and then I let her do it herself. It's a sweet little moment before bedtime;)

MOVING!!!

I am declaring a temporary blog hiatus. I know I have been MIA, but I will return to blogging regularly once we get settled into our new home. We close tomorrow so I'm going to go ahead and take a few things to the house tomorrow afternoon. Thursday we are going to play with some friends. Friday is our actual moving day, but the movers won't be in Huntsville until late afternoon so most of the unpacking will happen on Saturday. I am sooooo excited to be in our new home, in our new city and Finley and I are especially excited to be living with Daddy again! We have missed him! Wish us luck on the move and we will be in touch soon!

Happy 4th of July!

Happy 4th of July! We are so thankful for our freedom!

Trip to the Georgia Aquarium

We went to Lawrenceville, GA for the 4th of July to visit my dad and step-mom. We had the best time! We went to the pool, did some shopping, shot fireworks and visited the Georgia Aquarium. The aquarium was wonderful! Definitely worth the trip!

ECLIPSE!!!

So I finally saw Eclipse! It was a family affair. Me, Joey, my step-sister and her husband went on the 4th of July. It was great because there was no one there. We had the whole theater to ourselves. There's nothing like a big bag of movie theater popcorn, Sour Patch Kids and a Diet Coke at 9:30 in the morning;)

Anyway, I thought the movie was great. The fight scenes were awesome! My favorite part was when the Cullen family was running through the woods after Victoria. Something about that whole scene was just really exciting. Breaking Dawn is sure to be my favorite though. It was my favorite book. I heard they are making the movie into two parts one year apart!!! Making us wait that long is cruel and unusual punishment!!! My Twilight series is packed up in Mobile so I can't even satisfy my Edward craving with the books!!! Oh Edward, hopefully we will be re-united soon:)

Eclipse...Two thumbs up!!! Sooo ready to see it again!

Look what I can do at 15 months!

Here's a little 15 month update.

Finley says all done, no, outside, uh oh, hot dog, dog, duck, hi, bye, momma, dada, yuck. She waves and says hi and bye to everyone we meet. She can point to her eye, nose, mouth and hair when you ask her where they are. Her favorite foods are potatoes, chicken, turkey dogs, carrots, bananas, Nilla Wafers and bread. She can go up and down stairs really well while holding one hand of someone else. She still yells and stomps her feet when she gets mad or you tell her no. I'm using time-out as punishment for now and she hates it. She gets upset and cries until I get her out, but once I do she calms down and always gives me a hug. She wears a size 3 diaper and is in 12-18 or 18 month clothes.

She loves, loves, loves books and I am so glad she finally came around. Goodnight Moon is her favorite and she wants to be read that one all the time. She also loves Wheels on the Bus and Colors. She loves to take a bath. She can give a high five. She puts q-tips in her ear and then pulls them out and says yuck. The reason is because when she was little I would pull them out and she would try to grab them and I would say no no, its yuck! She was taking it all in;) She loves to push her baby in the stroller and still loves to be outside. If you say I love you she will lean in for a kiss. She likes to do halfway handstands and she gets really excited when Yo Gabba Gabba comes on. It is her favorite. Mickey Mouse Clubhouse has been left in the dust.

She does soooo much better in the car now. She loves to swim and will kick her feet if you hold her up under her stomach. She is walking and running all over the place. She is really attached to her blankie and we have not ditched the bottle yet. She was supposed to stop using it at 12 months, but she still gets milk in a bottle. She knows that putting her shoes on means we are going outside. She will not keep a bow in her hair. She loves to pull it out and then try to put it back in herself. She feeds herself pretty well with a fork, but she would rather eat with her fingers while holding her fork. She still loves animals especially dogs.

That's all I can think of for now. I know one thing...she is growing so fast and changing and learning new things everyday. I'm waiting for the day I wake up to her speaking in full sentences. My baby is growing up! We love you Finley Lauren Dambro!!!!
