The Graduate

My little sister graduated from Alabama last weekend! It makes me feel really old especially since we are 8 years apart. We're proud of her and can't to see her start the next chapter of her life. It would be awesome if she started it in Huntsville ;) Let the job hunt begin. The night after her graduation she and a bunch of her friends had a graduation party in Tuscaloosa. It was so fun! One of her friends roasted the girls. I've known most of these girls since they were in elementary school. I even baby-sat a couple of them so it was funny to hear. We attempted to hang with college kids for the first time in a long time. I was literally so tired the next day that I got sick and started running a fever and Joey was zombie-like. FAIL! Oh well, we had a great time dancing and seeing our family! Way to go, Cat! We're so proud of you and know you'll be great in the real world :) and don't worry, I know it seems like the good times are over, but they aren't. You have so much to look forward to!!!

Baby Birds

A mama bird made a nest in the bow door hanger on our carport door. I have gone to great lengths to keep this mama bird feeling secure with her spot so she won't abandon her nest. I feel very protective :) I hate driving into the carport because she always flies off. I try to use that door as little as possible, I keep the blinds that face the carport closed so she won't see us inside and I even avoid parking in the carport if I can. I hope we'll see some baby birds soon!

Happy Mother's Day!

I had a fabulous Mother's Day! We decided to visit Huntsville First United Methodist. Finley is in the MDO program there so we thought she would do well there. She did great! We went to the 8:30 service and then decided to try the 9:30 contemporary service. While we usually like a more traditional service, we really enjoyed New Song. Sam napped off and on and was an angel as usual. After church we went to the Mother's Day brunch at the club and then came home and we all took a long, much needed nap. Joey and Finley got me a new flatiron and two pairs of shoes and Sam gave me one of the greatest gifts the mother of a newborn can get...6 straight hours of sleep and a great big "on purpose" smile. This was an awesome Mother's Day! Happy Mother's Day to all the moms out there!!!

A True Friend is a Gift of God

When my grandmother moved to a senior living community a couple years ago, we inherited several pieces of furniture from her including a buffet she had in her dining room. I found this cross stitch in one of the drawers that was done by a friend of hers in the 1975. I squealed when I found it! I finally got around to having it framed and I hung it in Finley's room. It is so true! I hope God will bring wonderful friends into Finley's life.

Sam at 1 month

Sam at 1 month :)

- sleeping in 4 hour stretches at night and taking lots of cat naps during the day with his longest one in the early afternoon
- still nursing like a champ and getting a few bottles of formula a week
- loves to be held just like his sister did
- doesn't mind riding in the car (for now)
- is really responding to Finley. If she gets near him and talks to him he looks around for her and when she lays next to him on his playmat he stares a hole through her.

We love our little buddy so much!!!
