My baby can read!

Here is my smart little girl reading one of her favorite books. My favorite is when she tries to say "banana". Also notice how if she doesn't know one of them, she just makes something up. Haha! Please excuse my wet hair;)

ABCs...

For your listening pleasure...Finley singing her ABCs! I hope everyone has a great week!

16 months!

Make it stop!!! Time, please slow down!!!

Harmony Park Safari

Okay, this was SO MUCH FUN!!! We drove through this "cage free" ecosystem and fed all the animals. The animals knew exactly why you were there and came running up to the car so you could feed them. Finley thought it was hilarious that these animals were eating ravenously from our plastic cup. We will definitely go back!

The Earlyworks Museum

Last week we went to the Early Works museum. I was thinking it might be like the McWane Center, but it was more about history than it was about science. It was so awesome! I am definitely getting a membership! It was really nice and clean. It must be fairly new because everything was in such good shape. The staff was really nice too. They have a general store that has old fashioned toys and clothes. It has an area where the kids can try on clothes and hats from what I call the "little house on the prairie" time period.

They have a riverboat situated on a fake river and a old timey covered wagon the kids can ride on.

They have a huge tree with rocking chairs all around and you sit and listen to stories. The tree has a face and a mouth that moves. It was the coolest thing! They have books and musical instruments and a train table too. They had way to many play areas to list here. They also had a place called Biscuit's Room (or something like that) that was for toddlers. They had a water table, a soft play area, grocery store, garden, treehouse, puppets, a fake barn with stuffed animals, a post office, puzzles, books, coloring books. I could go on and on. Finley loved it! We were there for about 2 hours, but I took her at a weird time so we had to leave so she could take a nap otherwise I think she would have been happy there for much longer. Her favorite thing was this gate that she could open and close. She opened it, walked through then walked back through and closed it...repeat. She literally did that for 20 minutes straight. I'm so glad we found this place. We will be regulars there I can already tell;)

The Good-Tryers

Joey is playing on a softball team this summer. Their team is called the Good-Tryers. Finley and I went to watch a game the other day. She watched the game for a minute or two but she really just wanted to walk around the ball park. I was constantly looking for softballs to come flying down from the sky on our heads. Would it be weird if I made her wear a helmet next time? The Good Tryers won and we headed home for dinner.

Top 10 reasons we are LOVING Huntsville so far!

I thought the easiest way to update everyone on how we like Huntsville so far was a "Top 10". Here goes...

1.) There is a park so close to our house that we can walk to it. We went the other day and to my surprise the park was spotless. No trash on the ground, no gum or graffiti on the equipment, no mud under the swings AND I felt perfectly safe there alone with Finley. It was awesome!
2.) I have yet to drive more than 6 or 7 minutes from my house for any reason. Location, location, location. The places I frequent are literally 1-3 minutes from home.
3.) The people here are just plain nice. Seriously, the people in this town are so friendly and helpful it is astounding. I'm talking go out of their way to help you, give you advice, tell you where to eat, give you directions, etc. It's Southern Hospitality at its finest.
4.) We LOVE our house! It meets all our needs. We love our street too. It's quiet, but there are always people watering their plants or walking their dogs. There are a lot of big, old trees and there is a ball park down the street that is sure to be buzzing with activity during baseball and softball season. It feels really homey here.
5.) Finley LOVES our house! Her favorite thing is to run up and down the long hallway to the bedrooms. Her bedroom is bigger too so she can actually play in there.
6.) Hunstville has really cute shops. It will take me months to visit them all;)
7.) We can walk to the mall although we never would. I still like knowing I could.
8.) A lady said to me the other day that Huntsville had everything Birmingham has, but in Huntsville everything moves at a slower pace. I know exactly what she means. It feels really peaceful here and people aren't in as big a hurry as they are in Bham and Mobile.
9.) I feel really safe in our house and in our neighborhood.
10.) In certain parts of town where you are in the valley and you can see mountains, it is gorgeous! I cannot wait to spend fall and winter here. I'm finally in a city where a heavy snow is a possibility and I want it to happen!!!
